Description

This picture was taken when it was 90% done....i finished it but i want to take a pic of both the finished guitar and my full Marshall Lee cosplay as well. It took about a good 10 hours to make, considering i had to wait a while for the paint and glue to dry...

I made it out of 1 inch house insulation/foam (found at home depot), drawing the neck and axe part with sharpie so that i knew where to cut it (which was a really bad idea because the sharpie kept on bleeding through the paint...and STILL is there but not that noticable). I cut the neck and axe part seperatly to make it easier to center the neck piece and then sanded all the sides of both the neck and axe part to make it nice and smooth. Then i painted the neck piece and blade part of the axe with this maroonish color (i think its called cherry red maybe?) waited for it to dry, and then painted the middle part of the axe with the average red. WHO EVER MAKES AN AXE GUITAR USING HOUSE INSULATION FOAM DO NOT USE SPRAY PAINT BECAUSE FOR SOME REASON IT HAS SOME WEIRD CHEMICAL REACTION WITH THE FOAM WHICH MELTS IT AND MAKES IT ALL BUBBLEY AND DISCUSTING!!!! After the paint dryed i measured and cut a 2 inch DEEP square out of the axe part so that i could just slip the neck piece right in and glued the neck piece to the axe piece with gorilla glue (which took 2 hours to fully dry) When the glue was dry i painted the simple stuff (like the black lines and the two black dotted bar things), waited for that to dry, then attached the four nob things (which are just these wooden pieces that sort of look like the ones on a real bass guitar..found at craft stores or home depot or wherever..) that i painted grey and attacted them to the neck with hot glue...which DOES melt the foam but barely so i used it anyways...but its kinda a good thing cause the melted foam drys over the object which holds it tighter...anyways i glued the pointy wooden thing to the bottom of the guitar and also glued on the grey bar which holds the guitar strings to the axe part (which was basically extra foam that i painted) and a small red bar (which is also foam painted red) at the top of the neck, below the X...Then finally i attached the strings (which were REAL guitar strings i so happened to have...but i suggest using wire or possibly string instead). Also, for some reason the strings were really floppy and kept on coming together which was extremely annoying and made the guitar look stupid so to fix that i just hot glued the wires to the neck were every black line was so that the glue was sort of hidden...and thats basically it!!!!

That's Marceline's! Marshall's is a little different, he has one big blade and the other is like a triangular knife in a way! But good job!
